MEET YOUR HOST:
Hola! I'm Suzy and I live in Sevilla, Spain with my husband Mark and our two boys Lars (6) and Oliver (4). We decided to do a school year abroad and very happy with our choice of Sevilla, Spain. Mark is originally from Germany and the boys are in the German school here where they are also learning Spanish. We have previously been living in Denver, Colorado for many years. We attended the Malaga and Lisbon pop-ups and look forward to hosting families in our newly adopted city. We plan to take a full year off to travel more extensively when the boys are a little older.
LODGING & NEIGHBORHOODS & TRANSPORT:
Sevilla is the 4th biggest city in Spain with 700,000 people but is very compact, walkable and has frequent bus and metro lines. Most activities will take place near the Centro in the Santa Cruz or Triana neighborhoods. This is where most visitors stay. Nervion and Gran Plaza are also other great neighborhoods accessible by the Metro.
San Juan de Aznalfarache is further west but on the Metro and Seville Este is closer to the airport and accessible by a 30 minute bus to the Centro. A family can get a Tussam green bus card which means each trip is 39 euro cents each person.
The host will be staying near Este in the Santa Clara neighborhood. A car is not necessary because of frequent public transit, though it might be helpful for the Italica trip or other day trips you might choose to take. There are campgrounds near Sevilla as well.
