Come join us in Oaxaca City, Mexico for a fun-filled and community-centered worldschooling gathering June 16 - 22, 2024.

The Worldschool Pop-Up Hub provides super casual, budget-friendly opportunities to gather, connect with other worldschoolers, learn about the local area, instill new friendships, share your insights, and immerse in a friendly, accepting mobile community. Our activities highlight local nature, history, food, and culture... but you'll also have plenty of time to relax, get to know each other, and even stray from the itinerary to add activities that cater to the group's interests.

Pop in for a few days or the full week. Join as many activities as you'd like. It's up to you!

Our itinerary will include activities such as the following:

*Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzman

*Botanical gardens: Jardin Etno-botanico de Oaxaca

*Local markets: Mercados Organico La Cosecha & Mercado Benito Juarez & Mujeres Artesanias de las Regiones de Oaxaca

*Basilica de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad

*Museums such as Museo Textil de Oaxaca

*Archeological sites including Monte Alban

*Enjoying the atmospheres of Zocalo Oaxaca & El Llano

*Visiting El Arbol del Tule (the widest tree in the world!)

*Animal spotting and hiking in Benito Juarez National Park

*Art & Alibrejes in Arrazola

*Traditional music and dancing at Zocolo

*Walking tour of Oaxaca

Add-on options include a traditional temazcal sweat lodge ceremony, a mezcal tasting for the adults, day trip to Hierve el Agua (a natural spring), day trip to Cerro Zempoaltepetl, traditional cooking class, paint your own alibreje tour, artisan villages, and more!

MEET YOUR HOST:

We are the Coles – a tight-knit trio consisting of parents who crave adventure and an 11-year-old named Sebastian, who loves video games and waterfall hiking. Since 2019, we've been living life to the fullest as full-time worldschoolers, without a home base. We've loved delving into the culture (and food!) of Latin America as well as SE Asia. Myanmar, Malaysia, Mexico, El Salvador, and Ecuador have been some of our favorite countries so far!  

We just finished driving the Pan American Highway from the US to Ushuaia, Argentina. It was the road trip of a lifetime, filled with unexpected encounters, breathtaking vistas, and some pretty outlandish stories. Now we're driving around Mexico for six months are looking forward to exploring Oaxaca!

LODGING & NEIGHBORHOODS & TRANSPORT:

Our activities will be spread out over the city, but if you want the most centralized and convenient neighborhood we recommend staying in the Centro near Templo Santa Domingo or Teatro Macedonio Alcalá. However, other neighborhoods are also acceptable because Oaxaca is well connected with taxis and collectivos (Note: Uber does not operate in Oaxaca).
