About The Event
Come join us in for a fun-filled and community-centered worldschooling gathering Sept 17 - 23, 2024.
The Worldschool Pop-Up Hub provides super casual, budget-friendly opportunities to gather, connect with other worldschoolers, learn about the local area, instill new friendships, share your insights, and immerse in a friendly, accepting mobile community. Our activities highlight local nature, history, food, and culture... but you'll also have plenty of time to relax, get to know each other, and even stray from the itinerary to add activities that cater to the group's interests.
This pop-up is a bit different than our standard event. Instead of staying in one destination for a week, we'll split our time between two different towns. On Sept 20th, we'll jointly ride the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn.
Pop in for a few days or the full week. Join as many activities as you'd like. It's up to you!
Our itinerary will include activities such as the following:
*Helsinki's Senate Square
*UNESCO listed Suomenlinna Sea Fortress
*Seurasaari Open-Air Museum
*Explore city walls and climb up into Tallinn's old towers
*Walk the old towns
*Kadriorg Park
*Toompea Castle
*Check out Kohtuotsa and Patkuli viewing platforms
Add-ons include a day trip to Tartu for museums, cathedrals, river walks, gardens, and museums!

MEET YOUR HOST:
Rachel & family sold everything in 2014 and never have looked back. They've been completely nomadic since 2018, homeschooling their three children. Some of their favorite family travel destinations include Turkey, Romania, New Zealand, Spain, and London. Their two younger kids will join this Pop-Up and will be 15 and 17 years old.
LODGING & NEIGHBORHOODS:
Most of our activities will be in and around the old town in both cities. Anywhere semi-central to the old town will be most conveniently located near our activites, but there are no particular areas to avoid. The host family will stay in the Kallio neighborhood in Helsinki (not far from Lidl Kallio) and the Vanalinn neighborhood in Tallinn (between the Town Hall and Tammsaare Park).
TRANSPORT CONSIDERATIONS:
Helsinki and Tallinn are very walkable cities and very easy to get around. If your feet need a rest there are trams, buses, and trolleys. Taxis and ride share apps such as Uber, Bolt, and Taxify are also available.
